ASHTANGA VINYASA

ASHTANGA VINYASA - BEGINNERS with Tanya

This class is aimed at beginners to the Ashtanga method. Ashtanga is a dynamic, structured form of yoga and is great for those who like a physical flowing practice with a strong focus on the breath. You will learn the basics and work towards learning the primary series with some relaxation and breath work during the class. The class will focus each week on aspects of the primary series such as sun salutations, standing postures, seated postures and finishing sequence

Be guided through a series of Hatha postures; helping you to build strength, balance and flexibility. We’ll move into Pranayama breathing techniques to cleanse and improve energy in the body followed by a Yoga Nidra Meditation. Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a transformational and healing practice inducing deep relaxation with awareness. A great stress buster and life improver!

Surrendering deeply into each position, the focus becomes meditative, resting on stillness of breath, body and mind. Modifications can be offered for injuries making this a safe practice for all.

PREGNANCY YOGA

Being pregnant and becoming a mother is a very special and personal journey. It’s a time of major life change and transformation, a time for women to connect to their innate female powers and intuitive wisdom.  Our Pregnancy Yoga classes in Honor Oak Park and Brockley offers a holistic programme of breath-work (Pranayama), movement (Asana), relaxation, visualisation, sound and meditation and is suited to all stages of pregnancy, from 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Pregnant Students

Unless you already have a regular and consistent practice with one of our teachers and have been cleared by your doctor to keep practicing we recommend not attending classes until 12 weeks for Pregnancy Yoga and 14 weeks for a general-level Yoga or Pilates class. This is due to the higher risk of miscarriage in the first Trimester. Please know that the teacher is within their rights to refuse you entry to class on grounds of safety.
