Exercising in sync with your menstrual cycle

Join our Strength and Conditioning Coach, Seema, as she delves into optimising your exercise training in alignment with your menstrual cycle.

Your hormones perform a complex dance throughout your cycle, a unique rhythm for each individual.

While research suggests that hormonal phases may not directly impact strength, they can influence symptoms like bloating, pain, and disrupted sleep and therefore your motivation and experience with exercise.

Seema will explore these phases and their potential effects on you. She'll offer exercise strategies and insights on how to best prepare, fuel, and recover during each phase, empowering you to maintain consistency and cultivate strength, power, and energy.

Introduction to meditation

Join Dr Gillian Evans @yogianthropologist for a transformative meditation journey. Uncover the essence of meditation- navigating life’s shifts, not silencing the mind. Dive into breathwork and cultivate the art of a quiet mind within our small supportive class environment.

This is a workshop to explore the practice of meditation as a way to cultivate a steady mind, manage stress and enjoy a greater sense of well being. Perhaps you worry that meditation is not for you because you can't switch your mind off, or find it difficult to sit still and be with your feelings. This is the perfect workshop for you. Learn in a fun and non-judgemental environment that meditation is not about emptying the mind, or being hard on yourself for having difficult emotions. Quite the opposite. Meditation is about learning how to develop the resources to bear witness to yourself as you go through the ups and downs of life. It is regularly bearing stable witness to the changing and often turbulent landscape of our lives that creates the conditions for greater calm and a feeling of centredness. Central to this skill is breathwork. Students of this workshop will learn how the practice of meditation in yoga teaches us how to control the breath as a way to calm the nervous system and settle the mind. They will also find a heart-warming community of other students who can support each other in their meditation practice.

Please note that you should arrive 10 minutes before the class so that the class can start promptly at 2pm in our loft studio. Unfortunately you will not be able to take part if you arrive later than 13:50 as the reception will be closed.

Spring detox

Spring Detox Workshop with Marion Colledge

Cleanse and re-set with herbs and nutrition

Spring is the time of year for renewal. The natural world comes out of winter survival and resting

mode and new beginnings are underway. What better time to have a health re-set by supporting

your body’s detoxification processes and cleansing your system. The effects can range from

increased energy to improved focus, better digestion, better sleep and the possibility of loosing a

few pounds.

Marion, our Nutritional Therapist and Medical Herbalist, will talk you through some nutritional

strategies which can help with this such as fasting days or going sugar free for a period of time.

She will also discuss ways in which we can help the body’s natural detoxification pathways every

day for long-term health benefits. There will be the option of joining Marion on a 4 day sugar free

plant based cleanse afterwards where recipes will be provided alongside support through a

WhatsApp group.

Medicinal herbs have long been used to support detoxification through the liver, digestive system,

lymphatics and urinary tract. Marion will introduce some of these herbs and there will be the

opportunity to create your own 50g cleansing herbal tea blend to take home with you.

There will be time for questions at the end.

with Gillian Evans @yogianthropologist

Welcome to this workshop on exploring the practice of meditation as a means to cultivate a steady mind, manage stress, and experience a greater sense of well-being. If you're hesitant to try meditation because you find it difficult to quiet your mind or sit still with your emotions, fear not - this workshop is perfect for you.

In a supportive and non-judgmental environment, you'll learn that meditation is not about emptying your mind or being hard on yourself for having difficult feelings. Rather, it's about developing the resources to bear witness to your own experiences as you navigate the ups and downs of life. With regular practice, meditation can help you remain stable amidst the changing and often turbulent landscape of life, creating a greater sense of calm and centeredness.

One of the foundational skills you'll learn in this workshop is breathwork. You'll discover how practising yoga and meditation can teach you to control your breath as a way to calm your nervous system and settle your mind. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to connect with a supportive community of fellow students who can help support you in your meditation practice.
