Chiropractic Care FAQs

  • Meet Simon Leung, Jennifer & James Dunhill HERE

  • As this is your first Chiropractic appointment you will be asked to consent to a physical examination. Please consider wearing stretchy or loose clothes; you will want to move without being constricted. In some cases, the Chiropractor will need to clearly see the movement of your full spine which may require that you change into a clean gown provided by the clinic.

  • Each new client has 60 minutes allocated to them in the diary; however, the actual length of the appointment may be shorter. Each person requires something different. Some people will be able to have more treatment than others in the first session and a lot will depend on how acute the pain is, the complexity of the issue and the diagnosis.

  • Chiropractic treatment is a very safe and effective form of treatment. Chiropractic is a holistic and non-invasive approach to health. Your Chiropractor will explain the possible risks of treatment and discuss any concerns you may have. If you do not respond to chiropractic therapy, you may be referred to another health care provider, such as your GP.

  • Pain is the way your body tells you that there is something wrong. If you ignore it or mask it with painkillers it can make the problem worse in the long term. Finding and treating the underlying problem as soon as possible is recommended.

  • Painkillers tend to be just a ‘quick fix’ and do not address the underlying cause as they merely mask the pain. Excessive use of painkillers can also lead to some serious side effects. Chiropractic care will look at the root of the problem, providing a natural and holistic form of treatment.

  • The number of sessions will depend on each individual. There can be multiple factors, such as age, lifestyle and the type of problem, that must be considered. After the consultation, your chiropractor will give you a report of your findings to explain the number of treatments needed and answer all your questions.

  • Yes! Please visit our Pre & Post Natal Care page for more information.

  • Please check with your insurance company to see if chiropractic is covered in your policy if you are hoping to claim. We do not operate a direct billing arrangement, meaning we cannot claim your payment on your behalf. We will happily provide full invoices for your insurance claims, but all accounts must be settled immediately with us and then claimed back from your insurer.

  • This answer isn't simple yes or no! It will depend on the child's age and the issue. Our Chiropractors aren’t paediatric trained and so cannot treat very young children but may be able to help an older child (approx. 6+) experiencing "general" musculoskeletal pain. Please call the clinic to discuss your case so we can advise you. Anyone under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian with them throughout the appointment.
