Massage Therapy

Massage therapy benefits your whole health! Massage can cause physiological changes in your body through the relaxation response of the nervous system and mechanical response, which are the physical effects that occur in the body when pressure is applied to the soft tissues. Together, these can produce a myriad of physical and emotional benefits.

Massage treatments are suitable for many physical complaints, including postural muscle tension, tension headaches, and jaw, neck, back and shoulder pain. It also promotes the normalisation of the soft tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments) throughout the body, releasing nerves and deeper connective tissues.

Massage can be beneficial in treating stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, insomnia, persistent fatigue, digestive disorders, or just for an enhanced sense of well-being. You might also want to consider massage for preventive care.

All massage treatments at the clinic are completely tailored to the individual client after a brief consultation at the start of the session. Scroll down to learn more about all the treatments we offer at The Honor Oak Wellness Rooms.

Types of massage we offer

  • A treatment to nourish and oxygenate the muscles, organs and connective tissue within the abdomen and sacrum.

This treatment is helpful for digestive problems such as constipation, IBS, bloating and cramps and for female reproductive problems, including painful periods, PMS, menopausal symptoms, fertility problems, fibroids and migraines.

  • Advanced Clinical Massage can help to address any pain you’re finding debilitating in your daily life. It combines deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and stretching. Clinical massage can help to mobilise you and allow you to function better.

  • This is a Western adaptation of the ancient Indian tradition of head massage. It is a deeply relaxing and at the same time, invigorating massage of shoulders, neck, scalp and face, which can be beneficial for conditions including stress, anxiety, insomnia, chronic headaches, and poor concentration. It is particularly beneficial for people in 'office jobs' who suffer from postural tension, stress and headaches.

  • (Vodder Method) A very gentle, soft and repetitive form of massage helps remove toxins, waste products and excess fluids from the body tissues through the lymphatic system. MLD is used primarily for detox, swollen ankles during pregnancy, pre-and-post cosmetic surgery, and after breast cancer surgery, and to alleviate many chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, acne, eczema or migraines.

  • A full body treatment designed to help the new Mum's body recover and deal with all the new aches and pains.

In these first few weeks and months when all the focus is on the new baby it is also a chance for Mum to be kind to herself and receive a nourishing and relaxing treatment. It is suitable from 1 week after birth (4 weeks after a Caesarean, depending on how well the scar is healing).

  • A pregnancy massage is a full body treatment which is specifically tailored to the needs of the pregnant woman and can help to ease some of the aches and pains (i.e. back-ache, swollen ankles, as well as emotional stress in dealing with these changes) whilst being deeply relaxing and nourishing.

A pregnancy massage is recommended after 12 weeks of pregnancy up until birth.

  • A treatment that works on the muscles for a specific therapeutic effect. This type of massage is completely tailored to your goals, such as deep shoulder knots and pain relief, so this will be discussed extensively with your therapist at the time. It uses relevant deep tissue techniques and movements to help relieve pain and the build-up of tension, returning the body to normal health from injuries or acute and chronic conditions.

  • If you play sports, we recommend regular sports massage to help reduce the risk of injury, improve recovery from training and help flush the toxins out of your body quicker. Equally, it can help people with postural problems caused by working at a desk or performing repetitive tasks.

It can be painful, but clients often report improved joint mobility and muscle function following treatment.

  • Swedish massage is a popular therapeutic therapy that works on the muscles to help relax the body. Swedish massage uses five types of strokes and movements that will help reduce tension, circulation, and stress levels and ease out the knots in your shoulders and body.

This massage is a great way to ease daily tensions and stress.
