Sports massage works well if you…
Run, cycle, swim, play football, CrossFit, or train regularly
Have a repetitive strain that keeps coming back
Sit at a desk all day and carry the tension in your neck, shoulders, or lower back
Are preparing for an event and want to arrive at the start line in the best shape
Are recovering post-event and want to flush lactic acid and reduce soreness faster
Have been told to "just rest it" but nothing is changing
What to expect
Your session starts with a short consultation — we want to understand your training load, what's bothering you, and what you want to get out of the treatment. From there, your therapist works on the specific areas of concern using deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, and sports-specific stretching where appropriate.
Sessions are 30, 60, or 90 minutes. For most people with a specific issue, 60 minutes is the right starting point.

FAQs
Is sports massage only for athletes?
1
No. The majority of our sports massage clients aren't competitive athletes — they're people with desk jobs, regular gym-goers, runners doing a few miles a week, or anyone carrying tension or a niggling injury. Sports massage simply means a targeted, results-focused approach rather than a general relaxation massage.
How many sessions will I need?
2
For a specific acute issue, most clients notice a significant improvement after 1–2 sessions. Chronic or recurring problems typically benefit from 4–6 sessions spaced a week or two apart. Your therapist will give you an honest assessment at your first appointment.
Will it hurt?
3
Sports massage works on deeper muscle tissue, so some discomfort during the session is normal — especially on areas with significant tension or adhesions. Most clients describe it as a "good hurt." You may experience 24–48 hours of mild post-treatment soreness, similar to a hard workout. If anything feels genuinely uncomfortable during the session, tell your therapist and they'll adjust.
Can I book same week?
4
In most cases, yes. We have availability Monday through Saturday and often have slots within a few days. The easiest way to check is via our online booking system, which shows real-time availability.
Do I need a GP referral?
5
No referral is needed. You can book directly online.
What's the difference between sports massage and deep tissue massage?
6
Sports massage is specifically designed around athletic performance, injury prevention, and recovery from training or injury. It uses many of the same deep tissue techniques but with a more structured, outcome-focused approach. If you're active or dealing with a sports-related injury, sports massage is the better starting point.
